The Obamas Are Terrible Gift Givers

Apparently, it’s customary for rich world leaders to meet with each other and exchange gifts when administrations change. Such was the case during a recent meeting with Barack Obama and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The Browns put a lot of thought into their gifts, and gave Obama an “ornamental pen holder made from the timbers of the Victorian anti-slave ship HMS Gannet,” as well as a rare first edition of Churchill’s biography by Sir Martin Gilbert. Mr. Brown and his wife even brought gifts for the kids, and gave Sasha and Malia outfits from expensive British shops, along with children’s books by British authors which haven’t even been published in America yet.
And in return, the Obamas gave the Browns… a lame DVD gift pack, and two toy replicas of the Presidential helicopter for their children (insert Debbie Downer music here). Come on, Obama! That’s not something you give to a world leader. That’s a consolation prize for losing on Wheel Of Fortune.
If you think THAT’S bad, take a look at some of the other bad gifts the Obamas have handed out since taking office:

I have to say that I am appreciative of the responsible fiscal spending by the Obamas. We are in a recession–>England gets DVDs–>I still have a prayer of a job.
