MTV announces host for Video Music Awards

MTV finally announced who will be hosting their Video Music Awards this year: it will be none other than… RUSSELL BRAND!
(crickets)
Come on, guys. You know. Russell Brand. The British guy. He used to be an MTV VJ, but he got fired in 2001 after coming into work dressed like Bin Laden. Ringing a bell yet? No? He also played Aldous Snow, the boyfriend of the title character in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. GQ Magazine voted him most stylish man in 2006, and also LEAST stylish man in 2007 and 2008.
The bottom of the barrel hath been scraped.
The 2008 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles September 7th.
