CONTEST TIME: Summer Reading Book Giveaway

Published on: May 11, 2009 – 6:34 pm by Jillian Madison Comment

book-giveaway

CONTEST TIME! Do you like books? Yes? Then listen up! We’ve got some some great summer reading material for one lucky Pophangover reader. You’ll get a copy of:

1) WORST NIGHTMARES: A Novel By Shane Briant. One of the scariest books I’ve read in awhile. It’s a riveting thriller that tackles moral issues as well. There are a lot of twists and unexpected turns, and the author blurs the lines between good and evil effortlessly.

Synopsis: Dermot Nolan is an award-winning bestselling author who seems to have it all—a successful career, fame, fortune, and a beautiful wife. Between the royalties coming in from his most recent book and the revenue he has received from the film company that bought the rights, Dermot seems every bit the literary darling. And yet, for the last year, he has suffered from a bout of writer’s block, and in the process has grossly overspent his income. So when Dermot comes across an unsolicited manuscript stuffed into his mailbox, he cannot help but feel intrigued. It tells the story of the homicidal “Dream Healer,” who snares his victims via his website, worstnightmares.net, seduces them into revealing their innermost fears, and then kills them by revisiting their very own nightmares upon them. Dermot, with the help of his wife, begins to rework the novel, while simultaneously researching the individual dream stories. In his search, he very slowly begins to realize that the novel may not be entirely fictional, that these poor characters may have perished at the hands of a twisted torturer. Could the Dreamhealer be real? Could these innocent cyber-surfers have fallen victim to a raving maniac? Just how far is fact from fiction? And could Dermot be writing his own ticket to death…his very own worst nightmare?

You can find more info or purchase the book at the Worst Nightmares website or pick it up a local bookstore near you.

2) TRIPLE CROSS by Mark T. Sullivan. Terrorists. Hostages. Corruption to our planet. And that’s all on the first page. Kidding. Still, this is a fast paced engrossing book that has “major motion picture” written all over it.

Synopsis: estseller Sullivan’s first thriller since 2003’s The Serpent’s Kiss displays his usual knack for setting and scenario. On New Year’s Eve during a snowstorm, members of the Third Position Army, a group devoted to fighting corporate greed, seize the Jefferson Club, a twelve-thousand-acre ultra-private resort for the super-rich, in southwest Montana. General Anarchy, the group’s leader, and his troops free most of the vacationers, but take the world’s six richest men hostage and sequentially put them on trials broadcast over the Internet. Summary executions follow in most cases. The twist: the 14-year-old triplets of the club’s security chief, Mickey Hennessy, manage to squirrel themselves away within the resort’s back rooms and stealthily work to foil the terrorists. Vile villains, the inevitable romance and the children-in-peril dynamic move the plot efficiently if predictably toward the harrowing finale in the rugged wilderness. This is a solid return for Sullivan, but a place keeper at best.

You can find more info or purchase the book at Mark T Sullivan’s website or a local bookstore near you.
