Yahoo’s currently running a story on their main page that ranks the happiest states in the USA. I’m in Connecticut, so this study confirmed what I already knew: that I’m mostly surrounded by a bunch of miserable, self-centered, curmudgeonly people who think the world owes them something.

I think this clearly reflects that the SEC is the best football conference in the country.

Louisiana as in the-state-bludgeoned-into-submission-by-mother-nature Louisiana?
What trips me up is how NC made it into the top fifteen. We’re all obese on our own barbeque and obscene amount of pot dealers and surrounded by too many women’s prisons to be *happy*.

I live in NE Ohio and can honestly say the economy and job situation has turned us into grumps. We have NO jobs. Period. I could rattle off 2 dz people I know that lost their jobs in ‘09. It’s bad, people.

Well, we in Illinois are right there down on the list with ya, Jillian. At least we get to escape to WI for some good frommage, beer and um, um, beer.
I think what makes us unhappy is the cost of everything, and of course, our fine politics

You’re in CT too Jillian. CT is made up of a hodge podge of prudes, snobs, insurance salespeople, and a splish splash of drug dealers.

What the fuck do people in Tennessee have to be happy about? Besides Jack Daniels…

I have to agree with you Ben, I live in Hawaii and there is a truth to what you are saying….but I have to add that the other part of it is that most people in Hawaii have no morals or values so nothing bothers them, hence: Happiness

Hell yeah New York! Go big or go home!
In all seriousness, I’m gonna blame NY being at the bottom on the two things I blame everything on: traffic and guidos.
